life in NYC blog

Our daughter posts great photographs of her life in New York City on her blog La Vie and Me.  It makes me feel I am walking along with her as she makes her way around the city.

She and some friends were in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn recently and happened onto some graffiti that the boroughs are so famous for. I love the work of this artist. The message is "Be kind and generous".

The tone of today's graffiti has changed. There are many positive messages and images compared to those in the past and so much of it is beautiful. To see more, visit her blog, La Vie and Me to get glimpses of the streets and sights of NYC.

Will take a blogging break for now as we are heading to the Rocky Mountains for a getaway. Will post some of the beauty we discover soon.

Per Breiehagen

Minnesota photographer Per Breiehagen's Norwegian roots are revealed in his beautiful Winter Magic series of photographs that he created several years ago when his daughter was small. Through digital photography, he captures the magic of Scandinavian winters with his adorable daughter as the little tonttu. Fun to revisit his charming photographs each Christmas, you can find his website here.

All photographs by Per Breiehagan.

Here is the story of how the Christmas card that Per and his wife sent out in 2007 became a worldwide sensation and resulted in the Winter Magic series being created.

we are memes

photo taken by Murray Howe, 1958

stylish serendipity photo(sorry for quality)

My cousin Andy and I have become internet memes. My uncle took this picture when we were babies. Andy, 5 months older, had just pinched me. I have the actual photograph and Andy has the image on his Flickr account. Someone found it there and it is showing up on the internet, usually for football rivalries. The image is now legally protected but it may still be used for non profit fun. Kind of crazy... I saw it scroll across Pinterest last month and thought I was seeing things!
