Blogging. I started it on a whim just for fun. Our kids are grown, our youngest is almost college age. My husband is in the investment field and is on the computer much of the time researching. I decided that I may as well find something to do on the computer too. I started innocently as all bloggers must do by blogging about all the things I like, beautiful things...gardens, homes, food, travel, animals, books, art, handmade objects, etc.
But as I discovered more and more blogs, I started to feel my content was just ho hum, without much of a strong voice. I am not really comfortable divulging much on the blog, talking about myself or my family and friends and I think this trait is really necessary for a good blog. And I do not have a business to promote. So after about a year and a half of writing this blog, I am going to say goodbye to it and appreciate it for the fun that it was, an experiment in creativity. If you read the blog regularly, thank you! There are plenty of other blogs to discover on my sidebar that you would enjoy. I will leave the blog up for now because I cannot think of a reason not to. And if I am a commenter(is that a word?) on your blog, you will continue to hear from me!
Best wishes, Cindy
PS If you would like to still see snippets of our gardens throughout the year, you can friend me on my personal Facebook page, I will share the garden and my travels there.

I hope you will be back, Cindy...you are always a delight.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I'm so sad to see one of my favorites go.
ReplyDeleteAs for being ho hum:
I love the variety in blogs, it was always refreshing to be able to pop in quickly and wonder what gem will have for us. You do have a voice, it's comes across in all that you post ~ it's perfectly soft and caring. I feel like you're a friend with fabulous taste, who I'd love to copy, and I can since you're my cyber friend!
I will truly miss stopping by each day, and now have another good reason I should join the Facebook crowd.
Wishing you all the best sweet friend, I too hope you'll miss it and be back!
I will miss your blog. I read you every day -
ReplyDeletePerhaps you did not spend thousands of keystrokes writing about your personal life but there was much revealed about you through your choice of images and subjects. I think you are a delightful person with extraordinary taste and an amazing eye for beauty!
If you lived in Chicago, I'd ask you to meet me for coffee.
I wish you the best of everything and thank you for the lovely blog.
Warm regards,
Beth
I shall miss your blog. Gardening is my passion so I was delighted when I discovered your blog. I also loved that you showed the world how lovely our neck of the woods is. I enjoyed that you would one day talk about your garden and the next, talk about a great find you discovered. It was a wonderful way to start me day.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you.
Cynthia

ReplyDeleteWhat?? No wonder I've not seen an update. I'm so disappointed and very sad. Stylish Serendipity was one of the first blogs I discovered and followed. I think you were one of my very first commenters. And, you've been so kind....sharing garden tips (like letting my Annabelle hydrangeas get woody), technical blog assistance (remember the link back thingie?), Etsy finds, etc, etc. I hope you will reconsider as I'll miss you and your posts very much. Since I'm not on Facebook, that is a real bummer. I've enjoyed our friendship, and hope we'll stay connected, Cindy. Thanks for everything!!
Warmly,
Loi
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI am sad your decision seems so final. Is it more than just a "break" you need. Maybe you could use it as your diary. It doesn't matter what others think of it, it is not ho hum, it is what you feel. If you thought of it as an exercise for yourself, not others, it may give you a different perspective. Write for yourself, not others. I don't always comment but always check-in and enjoy what I find here.
Take care. I am always happy to see you visit and comment. I am just sad I won't be able to respond here. I will visit you on Facebook!

Cindy I am saddened to hear you will not be blogging anymore. I thoroughly enjoy your blog, the beautiful garden photography and all your finds you share. A seasonal update would be great that way it wouldn't be so final. I am not on facebook but am now on twitter and pinterest so I hope we still bump into each other. Paulx
ReplyDeleteCindy, I am in France and am commenting on this post even though I see you aren't quitting completely from your next post. I must tell you, I've enjoyed visiting your blog so much. I have been inspired over and over! Im not able to keep up to date with all my favorite blogs but when I can, yours is one I love to spend time catching up on!!
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, I sometimes feel like I'm talking to myself and who the heck cares what I'm writing!?!
Glad to hear you've decided to keep in touch even if you are going to be less active...
XOXO
