summer in the city

New York is much more humid than Northeast Ohio. Dressing lighter today, back to linen. Yesterday was spent walking through the West Village with its cute cafes, chic boutiques and tree lined, cobblestoned winding streets. The West Village is quieter and cooler(in temperature) than Soho, many more trees and shady streets and less crowded sidewalks. Lots of great shops to explore.

We shared a relaxing lunch of avocado BLT's and beet salad at Cafe Cluny with a table next to the window perfect for people watching on the street.

But the highlight of the day was my first visit to Flushing Meadow for the US Open! First match was a charity exhibition John McEnroe/Adam Sandler v Jim Courier/Kevin James. Then the featured match... Novak Djokovich v Juan Martin Del Potro which was fun to watch. Even though Novak won in straight sets, there were many long rallies and great points.  Novak moves elegantly around the court, more effortless looking like Roger Federer. Del Potro seems to suffer from his lanky tall physique, he appeared much more tired than Djokovich who does not seem to sweat, Del Potro was drenched the entire match!

Upper East Side museums today and dinner back in West Village tonight.
